Question 1

What makes rotogravure printing artwork different from offset or flexo packaging artwork?

Accepted Answer

Rotogravure printing uses engraved copper and chrome cylinders to transfer ink directly onto flexible substrate films. Unlike offset or standard flexo, rotogravure artwork requires specialized pre-press trap values (0.15mm to 0.25mm), precise minimum dot thresholds (2% to 3%), dedicated cylinder circumference step-and-repeat calculations, and color separations for spot white and metallic inks.
